Here’s the cover for Dark Season VIII: Dead End

So here’s the cover for the eighth and final book in the first series of Dark Season books. There will be a second series of Dark Season starting later in the year, but for now this will be the ‘series finale’.

As you might expect, it builds up to a conclusion of sorts, while also setting up some questions and themes that will be explored when the series returns. If you’ve been wondering who the mysterious figure was in the basement of the hospital in Testament, you’re about to find out. If you’ve been wondering whether Sophie really gave birth to Patrick’s baby, you’re about to find out. If you’ve been wondering if Patrick will ever speak… well, I don’t want to give too much away. But let’s just say that there’s an answer to that question, of sorts.

Wolf ManMeanwhile, as I put the finishing touches to Dark Season VIII: Dead End (which will be out next week), I’m also working on the first book in a totally new series. Lupine Howl is my attempt to do for werewolves what I did for vampires with Dark Season. Lupine Howl is very much set in the same world as Dark Season, and uses some of the same mythology. But it’s a very different series, with a very different set-up, very different characters and a whole new set of mysteries.

Here’s the cover to the first volume, Wolf Man, and as the cover suggests, this series is set far away from Dedston (the setting for Dark Season). There have been werewolves in Dark Season, of course, and there might be again (hint!), but Lupine Howl is very much its own gig. I’ll talk more about the new series once Dark Season VIII: Dead End has been released.
