Every year, Andy Lannigan arrives with the funfair and visits the girl he loves. This time, however, he discovers that tragedy has struck. Paula is dead, having been found murdered on the beach during the winter, but the circumstances of her death remain a mystery. Andy always dreamed of leaving the funfair and settling down with Paula in Crowford. Now, however, he finds himself consumed by the need to find her killer.
