Facing the prospect of all-out war between the human and wolf worlds, John and Lisa reluctantly accept that they're going to have to work together. Time's running out, but Lisa's sure that she knows how disaster can be averted. First, though, she needs to face the truth about her terrifying past.

John, meanwhile, is struggling to deal with the changes that even now are coursing through his body. Refusing to accept the truth, he tries to find some way of reversing his condition. There's one person who might be able to help, but Doctor Robert Law seems to be in no fit state to deal with reality.

Dark forces are at work in Sobolton, and an ancient agreement is in danger of collapsing. Glimpsing flashes of a terrifying future, Doctor Law knows better than anyone that the stakes have never been higher. But is an even greater threat lurking in the shadows, waiting to strike?
