Maggie Quinn doesn't mind being alone, which is just as well. As she works on a scientific project in the Arctic, she enjoys the fact that there's no-one around to disturb her. And then, one day, a frantic man shows up, rambling about a zombie apocalypse.

Unable to contact anyone else, Maggie has to decide whether or not to trust the new arrival. Once he's gone, she tries to focus on her work, but she soon starts to notice strange things in the forest. Something is leaving unusual tracks in the snow, and Maggie starts to find the bodies of mutilated foxes. Was the man telling the truth? Are zombies real?
